Lions Topple Methodist 91-75 in Home Victory

 The Piedmont men's basketball team stormed past Methodist 91-75 on Saturday afternoon at Cave Arena.

The win marks Piedmont's fourth straight after dropping the opener to Emory.

It was a balanced scoring attack from the Lions as four scored in double figures, headlined by 16 points from Noah ReardonFisher Darden and Ryan Jolly.

Devin Dean recorded his first double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win.

The Lions led wire-to-wire as Reardon's three-pointer with 19:26 remaining in the first half set them off and running. Piedmont stretched the lead to double digits for the first time, leading 12-2 at the 14:57 mark.

Piedmont exploded for a 15-0 run midway through the first half to lead 34-11 after another Reardon triple. The Lions led by as many as 24 points late in the first half and took a 20-point advantage to the break.

The second half saw the Lions continue to lead by double digits the rest of the way. The Monarchs were able to cut their deficit to 74-62 with just over four minutes remaining. However, the Lions iced the game at the free throw line, making 13 in the second half.

Up next, the Lions will have a quick turnaround with Birmingham-Southern coming to Cave Arena Sunday for a scheduled tip at 6 p.m.
