Dearman's Hot Start Boosts Guilford to Away Win

The Guilford College men's basketball team continued their road start at North Carolina Wesleyan. Tyler Dearman continued his excellent start to the season; his 23 points kept the gap large enough in a decisive Quaker victory, 75-59.

Dearman posted 23 points, to go along with two steals and three assists. Julius Burch added another 14 for the Quakers, with three steals of his own.

In the first three minutes, both teams kept at each other, before a 11-0 personal run from Dearman increased the visiting team's lead to 12 (17-5). In this span, he scored three consecutive three-pointers, while adding a layup.

Guilford's lead shrunk to as low as five at the seven-minute mark, but closed the half on a 14-6 run. Dearman scored six points in this run, with three from Gabe Proctor, and Burch; including two from Rob Littlejohn as well. The Quakers led 39-26 at the half.

The visiting side's lead never dropped below 10 points for the entirety of the second half, playing well-rounded offensively to win by 16. Caleb Farrish was in double digits for the first time this season, scoring 11.

As a team, Guilford shot 46.9-percent (30-64) from the field, and made 3-pointers at a 40-percent clip (10-25).

Guilford (2-0) welcomes No. 19 Emory University to Ragan-Brown Field House for its home opener on Saturday, November 21. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
