William Paterson Men's Basketball Cruises to 86-62 Home Win Over Penn College

WAYNE, N.J. – Five Pioneers scored in double figures as the William Paterson men's basketball team (2-2) secured an 86-62 home victory over Penn College (2-2) Nov. 15 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With 7:17 remaining in the game, the Pioneers led by one (57-56) before senior Shawn Summers Jr. buried a 3-pointer that sparked an 18-3 run that lasted until the 2:45 mark of the second half.
  • From there, William Paterson maintained its double-digit lead en route to the 86-62 home win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Neftali Valentin matched his career-best scoring output after dropping 19 points on 7-of-16 (.437) shooting while knocking down five 3-pointers.
  • Summers Jr. logged 18 in the scoring column to go with eight rebounds and four assists.
  • Junior Andre Wells tallied a career-high 15 points with five assists and five steals.
  • Graduate student MJ Moncrieffe went 6-of-11 (.545) from the floor for 12 points to pair with 13 boards for his first collegiate double-double.
  • Senior Tyreek Montgomery chipped in with 10 points.
  • The Pioneers improved to 2-0 at home this season.
