ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) had 16 points and four steals while senior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added 14 points with nine rebounds as the second-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated Roanoke 69-50 on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon to extend its win streak to 21 games and extend its home win streak to 62 games, tying the NCAA Division III record.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead before a three-pointer by junior Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) capped a 7-0 spurt and put the Yellow Jackets up 9-5 with 15:30 remaining in the first period. RC tied the game at 9-9 before a pair of layups by freshman Keishawn Pulley, Jr. (Louisa, Va./St. Christopher's) finished a 16-6 run as R-MC took a 25-15 lead with 5:25 left. A follow by Mallory put the home team on top 32-23 with 1:15 remaining. The Maroons tallied the final five points of the half and trailed 32-28 at intermission. Mallory and Pulley both had eight points in the first period while Talbert added six.
  • The Maroons pulled within two at 36-34 three minutes into the second half before a jumper by Mallory capped a 16-2 run as the Yellow Jackets went up 52-36 with 11:25 left in the contest. A triple by freshman Jabril Robinson (Derwood, Md./South Kent Prep) gave R-MC a 20-point lead at 59-39 with 7:40 remaining. A jumper by Pulley gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of 21 at 64-43 with five minutes left. R-MC would record the 69-50 victory.

  • Mallory had two blocked shots to give him 258 for his career, a program and ODAC record. He has had at least one block in each game this season.
  • R-MC had four players score in double figures. Talbert had 16, Mallory added 14, Pulley put up 13 and Robinson tallied 11.
  • Mallory has 1,387 career points, putting him in 16th place on R-MC's career scoring list.
  • Talbert has 1,199 career points. He sits 33rd on R-MC's career scoring list.
  • Robinson and Pulley paced the Yellow Jackets with five assists each.
  • Talbert had three assists to give him 336 career assists, moving him past Tim Smith (1999-03) into 10th place on the program's career assists list.
  • Both teams had 32 rebounds. Mallory led the victors with nine and senior Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) grabbed seven.
  • Mallory has 793 career rebounds, the seventh-highest total in program history.

  • R-MC extended its home win streak to 62 games, a program record and the longest current streak in all NCAA divisions. The Yellow Jackets tied the Division III record of 62, set by North Park from 1984-1988.
  • The Yellow Jackets extended their win streak to 21 games. R-MC has won 34 straight ODAC contests over the past three seasons and is 64-2 in conference contests over the past five seasons.
  • R-MC secured its 17th ODAC regular season title and will be the No. 1 seed in the 2023 ODAC Tournament in Salem, Va.
