GRANVILLE, Ohio - February 1, 2023 - The men's basketball team lost 78-58 in a NCAC game against Denison on Wednesday night.

Hiram kept pace with the Big Red early on, but the opposing defense proved to be too much for a Terriers offense that leads the conference in scoring.

Brodgie Gordon recorded team-highs with 14 points and 3 steals, while Kevin Beans Jr. crashed the boards for 11 rebounds. Doug Sartain tallied 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench

The loss gives Hiram an 11-10 overall record and 5-7 mark in the NCAC. The Terriers are currently 7th in the conference with 4 games remaining on the regular-season schedule.

Gordon scored 10 of the team's first 12 points to keep Hiram within striking distance; Denison led 17-12 with 12:19 left in the first half. Max Johnsonpulled the Terriers closer with a layup and Dushawn Hill would later knock down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two points.

Denison found its rhythm offensively and finished the half with a 43-33 lead.

Beans Jr. made a layup early in the second half to bring the game within single digits before Denison's Darren Rubin responded with a layup of his own. The Big Red would lead by 10+ points for the remainder of the contest.

Hiram will next celebrate Gordon, Beans Jr. and Levi MacAdam as part of Senior Day on Saturday against Oberlin at 4 p.m. at Price Gymnasium.
