MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's basketball team picked up an important Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory on Wednesday night inside the David V. Wise Center, as the Gators ran away from Geneva College, 99-74.

The win evens the season series between Allegheny (13-6, 11-3 PAC) and the Golden Tornadoes (12-7, 9-5 PAC) at 1-1. The Gators, who were able to successfully avenge their 85-69 road loss from November 30, remain tied with Washington and Jefferson College (14-5, 11-3 PAC) for first place.

In a battle between two of the conference's heavyweights, Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mt. Lebanon (Pa.)) not only got the dub, but the senior forward outscored the reigning PAC Player of the Year, Lyle Titpon, by one point. Hinckley set a new career-high for points for the second consecutive game, this time pouring in 34. Tipton, who netted 35 in the series opener in November, finished Wednesday with 33 points.

Hinckley helped the Allegheny offense set a tempo different from what fans inside the James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena may be used to seeing this season. Instead of a catch-and-shoot perimeter fireworks display from Luke Barker (New Castle, Pa./Struthers (Ohio)) and Ryan Lang (Sarver, Pa./Knoch), the Gators consistently drove to the basket, and did so with both speed and physicality. As a result, Allegheny outscored Geneva in the paint, 62-26, and snapped a streak of seven straight games with double-digit 3-point makes. AC also took extreme care of the rock and committed a mere three turnovers, a season-low.
