Cameron Smith Guides Mustangs Past Albright 78-72

Owings Mills, Md. – Sophomore forward Cameron Smith lifts Stevenson over Albright College, 79-72, Saturday afternoon. 
 
First Half
Smith sank the first bucket of the game as his team climbed to a 15-3 lead early before the Lions began to fight back. Albright put down the next five baskets before a foul on Dylan McGinley sent graduate student guard McKale Williams to the line for a free throw. Five minutes later with 4:11 left, senior guard KJ Holton send a long pass down the court to Smith as he stepped back to make a three pointer, putting the Mustangs up 29-20. In the final minute after two good free throws from Albright's Zyon Grant, senior guard Davon Jones sunk a three that sent the teams into the break with the Mustangs up by five. 
 
Second Half
Holton kicked off the second half tallying a three-pointer followed by Williams doing the same as Stevenson opened a 14-point lead thanks in part as well to graduate student guard Connor Walsh. At the 11-minute mark, junior guard Ethan Jones made the game 62-40, the largest Mustang lead of the night. The Lions did not give up,  however; they sank up three straight buckets as the Mustangs went scoreless for four minutes. Albright's Qadir Mitchell hit a three with 30 seconds remaining to bring his team only within six. 
 
With their second win in a row, the Mustangs improve to 9-5 (3-2 MAC) and will next travel to York, Pa., to play the Spartans on Wednesday, Jan. 11, with a 6 p.m. tipoff. The Albright Lions fall to 5-9 (2-4 MAC) and will return home to host the Eastern Eagles on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m.
