OBERLIN, Ohio - December 10, 2022 - Hiram continued its resilient form by erasing a deficit as large as 12 points and hanging on for a 101-98 overtime win at Oberlin on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers trailed by 6 points at halftime and by 10 points with 13:26 remaining in the second half, but a late run was enough for the team's first road win of the season and a 3-1 record in NCAC play. They had previously erased a halftime deficit and beat Wittenberg at the beginning of the month.

An 11-1 run with under 10 minutes to play in regulation was a key turning point, with Brodgie GordonTrent JakackiKevin Beans Jr. and Ricky Esdelall contributing on the offensive end. Hiram went 6-6 from the free-throw line during that span to take a 79-76 lead with 7:15 left.

The teams traded baskets for the final minutes of the second half, with Jakacki knocking down a pair of free throws to level the tally at 89-89 and eventually send the game into overtime.

Jakacki and Beans Jr. scored 8 of the team's 12 overtime points, including a layup from Beans Jr. to break a 95-95 tie with 2:09 remaining. Another 4 free throw makes from three different players would seal the high-scoring conference affair.

Gordon scored a game-high 21 points, while Jakacki and Beans Jr. recorded 19 points apiece. Doug Sartain stayed hot shooting the ball with 14 points on 4 three-pointers and a pair of overtime free throws to help extend the Terriers' win streak to three games.

Hiram's shooting performance marked its 6th game of the season with a FG pct of at least 50%; the team is now 4-2 in those contests. The 54% FG pct (34-63) was tied for its best in a conference game in 2022-23 (54% vs Kenyon).

The Terriers have featured the highest-scoring and most efficient offense in the NCAC this season; they lead the conference in PPG (85.6) and FG pct (49.7%).

Hiram will return to non-conference competition on Friday when it travels to Hilbert College to take on the Hawks at 7 p.m.
