MBB: Bosse drops 30, Panthers roll past NVU-Lyndon

 

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. The Plymouth State University men's basketball team defeated NVU-Lyndon, 88-64, in a non-conference game at Stannard Gymnasium on Thursday night.

After losing the season-opener at home, the Panthers have enjoyed their road trip winning each of their first four games away from Foley Gymnasium over the past seven days. Plymouth State will be looking for its fifth straight win, again on the road, on Saturday.

Junior Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H.) led all scorers with 30 points, while senior Giorgi Tsiklauri (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 18 points of his own. Sophomore Elijah Swanson (Meredith, N.H.) scored 15 points to help the Panthers to their fourth straight victory.

Plymouth State improves to 4-1 on the season, while the Hornets fall to 2-2.

How it Happened:

  • The teams got off to a slow start with Plymouth State leading 7-6 over the first four minutes of play.
  • The Panthers then scored eight straight points to go up 15-6 with 14:12 on the clock in the first half.
  • Behind four buckets from distance, the Hornets went on a 14-2 run of their own to take a 22-17 lead with 10:27 left in the opening half.
  • PSU regained the lead, 27-24, at the 6:35 mark.
  • The Hornets deep shooting went cold in the final minutes as the Panthers increased the advantage to nine points, 42-33, at halftime.
  • NVU-Lyndon scored the first five points in the opening minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to 42-38.
  • The Panthers started to pull away, earning their first double-digit lead before stretching it to 16 points with 13:41 left in regulation.
  • NVU-Lyndon was able to get within ten points at the 10:56 mark, but the Panthers kept pushing forward to a comfortable win.

By the Numbers:

  • The Panthers went 33-of-67 (49.3%) from the floor and 8-of-16 (50.0%) from three.
  • Plymouth State hauled in 44 rebounds to Lyndon's 34, with a 15-13 advantage on the offensive glass.
  • The Panthers led for all but four minutes in the contest.
  • Thirty-three of NVU-Lyndon's 63 field goal attempts (52%) came from beyond the arc.
  • Points in the paint went to Plymouth State by a 38-24 margin.
  • Plymouth State has won seven-of-eight matchups and improves to 19-3 against the Hornets dating back to 1986.
