Gryphons take on Yale University in Exhibition Game

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball team fell in an exhibition match to Yale University by a score of 96-41 on Monday night. Sophomore Amos Grey led the Gryphons in scoring with nine points on the evening.

The Gryphons took on the Bulldogs in this exhibition game, who have made three NCAA Division One Tournament appearances since 2016 and also won an Ivy League Tournament Championship this past season.

The Gryphons could not get anything going against the tough Yale defense, being held to just 21 points in the first half while the Bulldogs were able to score at will, totaling 56 points in the first 20 minutes. Matt Knowling led Yale in scoring with a game-high of 20 points and five rebounds. 

The Bulldogs dominated in the paint, scoring 50 points compared to just 14 for the Gryphons. Yale also dominated in fast-break points, scoring 24 points while the Gryphons had none. Both teams totaled 16 turnovers, however the Bulldogs capitalized on the mistakes made by Sarah Lawrence, scoring 20 points off of mistakes by the Gryphons.

The aforementioned Grey led the Gryphons in scoring while Eamon Kelly led the team with four rebounds. Grey and Kelly also tallied two assists each to lead the Gryphons. Seven different Sarah Lawrence players registered a steal in the game as well, a bright spot in the Gryphons' defensive effort.

The Gryphons will open the regular-season against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. and will close out the day's homecoming activities.
