Neumann Leads from the Start in Win over Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball used a hot start to take home an 86-51 win at Centenary University on Monday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.

 

All five starters hit double-digits for the Knights, led by Jalen Vaughns who netted 28. The sophomore also grabbed 13 rebounds. Tony James tallied 14 points. Ryan Starr hit three three-pointers en route to 13 points. TJ Lewis and KJ Speller each added 10 points.

 

The Knights scored the first 10 points of the game and never looked back. The Cyclones pulled to within four, 26-22, with six minutes left in the first half. Neumann netted six of the next seven points to extend its lead back to nine, 32-23. The Knights took a 34-27 lead into halftime.

 

Speller scored the first four points of the second half as the Knights opened the half with nine straight points. Neumann continued to add to its lead and hit the 20-point lead on a jumper by James and a 30-point lead on a free throw by Vaughns.

 

Neumann (17-6, 9-1 Atlantic East) continues the last week of the regular season on Thursday when it heads to Cabrini. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
