• The Short Story: The 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's basketball team held off a feisty McDaniel squad to win 70-65 Thursday night at Goldfarb Gym.

How it Happened
• Hopkins led 62-47 with 3:21 to play following a pair of Jack Anderson free throws. Michael Wallace responded with six unanswered points to slice the deficit to single digits for the first time since early in the second half. The Blue Jays pushed the lead back to 13 with free throws from Grant Bulmash and Anderson, but the Terror weren't going away.
• Josh Sproul and Charles Contee sandwiched a pair of three-pointers around a Chris McAboy bucket in the paint and just like that, it was a five-point game with 26 ticks on the clock. Anderson went back to the line and hit both of his shots, but Wallace answered with a pull-up jumper on the other end. Conor Gibson then hit one of two to put Hopkins up 69-63 but Sproul cut it to four with a driving layup with nine seconds to play. Anderson would go back to the line on the ensuing possession and converted one of two shots to make it a 70-65 game. Dragan Hornatko's three with time winding down missed the mark and the Braeden Johnson secured the rebound for the Blue Jays.
• It was a back-and-forth affair for most of the first half as neither team led by more than four over the first 17 minutes. With the game tied at 21, Johnson drained a shot from downtown in transition to spark an 8-2 run that sent the Blue Jays into the half with a 29-23 lead.
Sidney Thybulle opened the half with a pair of free throws to push the lead to eight. Back-to-back to Green Terror buckets quickly cut the lead down to four. The teams would swap scores over the ensuing three minutes and Hopkins led 35-32 at the 15:37-mark.
• Conner Delaney scored on a driving layup to ignite a 17-2 run that spanned seven minutes and saw the Blue Jays storm out to a 52-34 lead. Six different players scored during the run, which was capped by a pair of Gibson free throws at 8:29. The Blue Jays and the Terror went back to trading scores over a five-minute span and it was 62-47 Hopkins after two Anderson free throws.
