Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball sophomore Jordan Parham cooked up a career-high 17 points in a 79-51 over N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Parham led the way with 4-7 (57.1%) shooting from deep in Lynchburg's second-straight home win.
Suggs knocked down the first bucket of the game for the Hornets with a 3-pointer. His shot began an 11-0 run. Trey Pittman, Cam Savage, and T.C. Thacker all contributed buckets to the early run.
Parham sank his first 3-pointer of the day 6:15 into play, giving Lynchburg a 14-4 lead. He made another 11:53 later as Lynchburg went up 28-15.
As the first half expired, Suggs used a nifty crossover move to get into the lane and found Thacker for an easy layup, putting Lynchburg up by 12 at the break.
The Hornets held the Battling Bishops to 18 points in the first half, their least points allowed in a half since limiting Averett to 18 on Dec. 11, 2019.
Isräel Lockamy scored seven points in the opening 2:57 of the final period. He made two layups on assists from Carrington Young and Suggs. The graduate student from Wake Forest, N.C. also added a 3-pointer.
Parham tallied 11 of his 17 points in the second half, beginning with a 3-pointer immediately after subbing into the game. With 12:46 to play, Parham put Lynchburg up 49-28 after converting an and-one.
Parham was not the only Hornet sinking threes in the second half. Miles Taylor, playing in his first game of the season, made a 3-pointer with 6:36 to play.
Thacker gave the Hornets their biggest lead of the game 1:11 later. The preseason all-American snagged an offensive rebound after a missed free throw then sank a pull-up jumper, putting his team up by 28 points. Thacker tallied seven offensive boards and 16 rebounds overall.
Mason Makovec made his first-collegiate bucket in the final minute of play. Landon Sutton sealed the deal with a steal and a layup on the other end with 24 seconds left as the Hornets earned the 79-51 win.
Lynchburg's second half featured 11 different scorers thanks to a creative, exciting offense. The Hornets dished out 10 assists in the second half and had 16 dimes on the day. Suggs was the leading play-maker with five assists to go along with nine points.
Parham was one of three Hornets in double-figures, scoring 17 points. Thacker had a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds while Lockamy added 13 points.
Lynchburg (3-1) opens conference play on the road next with a matchup against Washington and Lee. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
