No. 2 Yeshiva Defeats Penn State Schuylkill for 38th Straight Win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The nationally ranked No. 2 Yeshiva University men's basketball team continued its winning ways on Sunday, defeating Penn State Schuylkill by a score of 105-52, at Lamade Gymnasium. Yeshiva opens the season with a 2-0 record and has now won 38 consecutive games.

Leading the way for Yeshiva was Ryan Turell, who tallied 24 points and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, while dishing out five assists and grabbing four boards. Gabriel Leifer recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while delivering six assists and blocking two shots. Ofek Reef tallied 19 points with three rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals. Eitan Halpert had a solid game with 12 points, three assists, just as many steals, and two rebounds.

The Maccabees shot 64.1% from the field including 51.7% from beyond the arc. YU had a strong afternoon on the defensive end, holding the opposition to just 28.2% shooting from the field.

The Blue and White fell behind, 9-8, in the early stages of the game. However, a layup by Ethan Lasko began a 15-2 that put the Maccabees ahead, 23-11. Turell's putback capped off the run.

The Lions could not get back into the game as Yeshiva pulled away for the victory.

For the game, Lasko had nine points and six assists, while Oren Betesh also netted nine points. Jordan Armstrong added seven points.
