Greencastle, IN – The fifth-seeded Oberlin College men's basketball team earned a 75-63 victory over the fourth-seeded DePauw University Tigers on Tuesday night at Neal Fieldhouse in the NCAC Tournament Quarterfinals.

The victory marked the Yeomen's first conference tournament win since 1992 when they beat Allegheny 88-73 in the quarterfinals.

Five Yeomen finished in double figures with junior Wolf Moser leading the way with 17 points off the bench. Senior Andre Campbell added 15 points, while classmate Christian Fioretti became the third Yeoman this season to surpass 1,000 career points as he dropped in 12 to give him 1,008 for his career. Joshua Friedkin added 13 points while senior Charles Tiedemann added 10 points and matched Campbell and Fioretti with a team-high eight rebounds.

Oberlin opened the game with a 7-0 spurt and later took a 20-11 lead on a Tiedemann layup midway through the opening half. The Tigers trimmed the Yeomen cushion all the way down to one, 28-27, at the 3:05 mark but the Yeomen closed the session with back-to-back triple-hits from Fioretti and Moser to carry a 34-28 advantage into the locker room.

While the Tigers never led in the game, they continued to hang around for the bulk of the contest. A Moser layup with 12:30 left to play made it a 45-36 Yeomen lead but a 10-2 DePauw response run had the margin down to just one, 47-46, with 9:24 still on the clock.

Oberlin answered the call with a 12-3 burst of its own that featured 3-pointers from Moser and Friedkin to increase the differential out to 59-49 with just over five minutes left to play in the game. The Tigers continued to fight but would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way as the Yeomen went on to finish off the historic victory.

The Yeomen shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the floor and cashed in 17-of-18 charity tosses for a 94.4 percent success rate. The Tigers went 24-of-60 shooting for a 40 percent clip in the loss. Oberlin won the battle of the boards 40-27 and ended with a 21-9 margin in fastbreak points.

The Tigers end their season at 14-12 overall while the Yeomen improved to 15-11.

Oberlin will take on the top-seeded and No. 4 nationally ranked Tigers of Wittenberg on Friday night in Springfield, Ohio in the NCAC Semifinals.
