LEWISTON, Maine -- Every player on the roster scored at least two points and the Bates men's basketball team controlled the game from start-to-finish in an 88-42 win over Maine Maritime Academy Tuesday night at Alumni Gym.

Bates (10-7) shot a season-high 50% from the floor in the victory. The Bobcats also turned in their best defensive performance of the season, holding the Mariners (3-14) to 24.6% shooting.

Senior Kody Greenhalgh (West Warwick, R.I.) led all scorers with 17 points on 6-8 shooting. He hit 5-7 shots from three-point range and dished out five assists. Senior Nick Gilpin (Hampden, Maine) added 10 points on 4-5 shooting and matched Greenhalgh with five assists of his own. First-year Omar Sarr (Dakar, Senegal) chipped in five points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Andrew Liebert paced the Mariners with 12 points off the bench. Nicholas DePatsy tallied seven points and two steals.

Reigning Maine Rookie of the Week Stephon Baxter (Worcester, Mass.) got the offense going to start the game with a corner three and Bates never trailed on the evening.

With the score 22-16 in favor of Bates, the Bobcats went on a 16-2 run, keyed by a Greenhalgh three with 8:29 left in the half and culminating with a layup from junior Raheem Spence (Nantucket, Mass.) with 4:35 remaining, making the score 38-18.

Kimani Anderson answered with a layup of his own but Bates ended the half on a 13-0 run, going up 51-20 at the intermission when senior Tom Coyne (Falmouth, Maine) drilled a three from the top of the key.

The Bobcats led by as many as 51 points in the second half, taking an 86-35 lead on a dunk from first-year Jacob Iwowo (London, England) with 4:35 to go in regulation.

Bates capped the scoring on a sweet give-and-go when junior Billy Lahart (Franklin, Mass.) fed the ball to fellow junior David Akinyemi (Bealeton, Va.) who found the cutting Lahart for the layup with 1:25 remaining.

It's the second time this season every player on the active roster has scored in a game for Bates. Coyne was hurt for the Bobcats' 98-60 win over the University of New England earlier in January, but every Bobcat who played scored in that game as well.

The Bobcats welcome undefeated and No. 5 nationally ranked Colby College to Alumni Gym this Friday at 7pm.
