Hartford, Conn. – Junior guard Antone Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.) had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals to an 83-69 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity drops to 10-6 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC with its second loss in a row, while the Cardinals improve to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the league while snapping a three-game losing skid.  The Bantams host Pine Manor on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in their next game, while Wesleyan entertains NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Trinity fought back from a 17-point deficit in the first half, and took a 44-42 lead on one of four treys in the game by senior guard Joe Bell (Manchester, N.H.) three minutes into the second stanza.  The Bantams led, 52-48, after a three-pointer from the left wing by first-year Charles Redd (Peekskill, N.Y.) at the 13:30 mark, but the Cardinals scored 12 points in a row over the next five minutes to lead, 60-52.

Trinity junior Colin Donovan (Westborough, Mass.) connected from long range to make the score, 62-59, in the visitors' favor with 6:16 on the clock, but rookie Preston Maccoux (Big Bend, Wisc.) answered for Wesleyan from long range to ignite a 10-2 run that put the Cardinals ahead by double digits for good.

Wesleyan had used an 8-0 run to take a 19-9 lead in the first half, and took a 34-17 lead on a Walker jumper with 4:34 left before the break.  Senior co-captain Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) made a three-pointer and a pair of free throws in the final minute to cut the Bantam deficit to 42-36 at halftime.  A Donovan trey and a basket inside by junior forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.) started Trinity's 8-0 out of intermission that put them ahead on Bell's three-pointer.

Bell paced Trinity in scoring off the bench with 16 points, while Donovan added 13 points and four assists, Jorden finished with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and Seretta added 11 points.  Trinity senior co-captain Kyle Padmore (Milton, Mass.) contributed five points, seven rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.  Trinity shot just 33.3 percent from the field (22-66), but made 12 three-pointers and 13 of 14 free throws to stay afloat. 

Wesleyan made 53 percent of its shots (35-66) and outrebounded Trinity, 42-32.  Sophomore Sam Peek (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Maccoux, junior center Jordan James (Vienna, Va.), and sophomore Shackylle Dezonie (Tobyhanna, Pa.) scored 11 points apiece for the Cardinals.  Dezonie also had seven boards and six assists, while James grabbed six rebounds.
