Trinity Men's Hoops Beaten By No. 12-Ranked Colby

Waterville, Maine – The Colby College Mules caught fire from long range in the second half to surge past the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action this afternoon.  Trinity led, 44-37, at halftime but the No. 12-ranked Mules put up 54 points in the second half to stay undefeated at 13-0 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC.  Trinity, which received 13 points and a game-high 15 boards from junior forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.), drops to 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the league with their first loss in seven games.  Trinity hosts NESCAC rival Wesleyan on Friday at 7 p.m. in its next game, while Colby visits No. 3-ranked Middlebury on the same day at the same time.

Trinity trailed, 10-0, just 1:45 into the game but senior co-captain Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) rattled off the next six points.  First-year Charles Redd (Peekskill, N.Y.) drained a three-pointer to give the Bantams their first lead at 15-14 at the 13:50 mark, but the Mules scored five of the next seven to lead, 20-15, on two Alex Dorion free throws a minute later.  Matt Hanna connected from deep to put the home squad up 29-23 with 11:19 on the clock, but Trinity went on a 14-2 run over the next seven-plus minutes to lead, 37-32, on a Seretta drive four minutes before the break.  Trinity junior Colin Donovan (Westborough, Mass.) scored inside in the closing seconds of the first half to make it, 44-37. 

Colby fought back and tied the game at 50-all on a Dorion trey four minutes after halftime, and the game stayed close for the next 7:20 with Trinity senior center Jadakis Brooks (Elmira, N.Y.) scoring to make it, 57-56, in the home team's favor at the 11:20 mark.  Colby scored 23 of the game's next 30 points to go ahead, 80-63, with 4:17 remaining.

Jorden led five Bantams in double figures in scoring, as senior co-captain Kyle Padmore (Milton, Mass.) also scored 13 points and Seretta, Donovan, and Redd each had 11 points.  Seretta added six rebounds, while both Donovan and Padmore dished three assists.  Noah Tyson paced four Mules in double figures in scoring with a game-high 24 points to go with 14 boards.  Dorian and Alex King added 18 points apiece for the Mules.
