Oxy Beats Cal Miramar For Second Time

LOS ANGELESJacob Adler had seven threes and 29 points as the Occidental men's basketball team overcame a rusty start to blow out Cal Miramar 100-64 at Rush Gym on Monday in Oxy's first game back after the holiday break.

Adler came on strong in the second half, helping the Tigers push what was just a seven-point halftime advantage up towards 20 points very quickly. He was 10 for 17 from the field and 7 for 11 from three, had four rebounds and five assists.

Ryan Kaneshiro had a great all-around game, finishing with 10 points on 5 for 8 shooting, nine assists, seven rebounds and three steals. The senior point guard who led NCAA Division III in assist to turnover ratio last season, has 29 assists in his last three games.

With senior forward Caleb Yellin-Flaherty missing due to an injury, first year Evan Dray stepped up, scoring 18 points on 8 for 14 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds.

Sydney Shipp had 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, Kyle Dosa had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Connor Dargan had seven points and six rebounds.

The Tigers were sloppy in the first half against the half court and full court zone pressure of Cal Miramar, but eventually settled in with better passing and got easy baskets.

Oxy shot a remarkable 62 percent from the field and 67 percent from beyond the three point line, and outrebounded Cal Miramar 46-24.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 7-2 on the season.
