Hamilton College's Kena Gilmour '20 scored 26 of his season-high 31 points in the second half and the Continentals pulled away late in a 91-81 non-conference win against the Hartwick College Hawks at Hartwick's Lambros Arena on Wednesday night.

Hamilton (7-0 overall) has the most points among the teams listed as "Others Receiving Votes" in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Continentals eclipsed 90 points for the fourth time in the last five games and they are averaging 91.7 per contest. Hamilton is still undefeated despite playing just once inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House so far.

The Hawks (5-3) tied the score five times, including on four occasions late in the second half, but never led. Hartwick held a 40-30 edge in points in the paint but was just 5 of 19 (26.3 percent) from 3-point range.

Gilmour scored 30 or more points for the second time in three games and for the fifth time in his career with the Continentals. He was 10 of 18 from the floor, including 5 of 10 from beyond the arc, and went 6-for-7 at the free-throw line. Gilmour is averaging 23.5 points per game. He also grabbed eight rebounds.

Eric Anderson '22 made all four of his shot attempts and finished with 10 points and seven boards for Hamilton. Elliott Tirbaso '22 chipped in 10 points off the bench and Nkosi Cooper '23 handed out seven assists. Cooper is averaging 4.4 assists per game.

Bobby Connors paced the Hawks with 18 points, three steals and two blocked shots. Austin Haskell contributed 16 points and Kyle Bradshaw posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Tommy Kelly dropped in 12 points and Pat Garey and Liam Drennan added nine apiece.

Gilmour's streak of 15 consecutive points for the Continentals started on a jumper one step inside the arc that gave Hamilton a 73-71 edge with 4:42 left. He drained two free throws for a 75-73 lead with 3:38 remaining before Kelly tied the score for the last time on two free throws with 2:54 to go.

The Continentals put the game away with a 13-2 run that covered the next 2:22. Gilmour started the spurt with a deep 3-pointer from straight away with 2:42 left and added two free throws after he grabbed a defensive rebound. After two free throws by Bradshaw pulled Hartwick within three at 80-77 with 1:53 remaining, Gilmour canned another deep trifecta from the left wing. On Hamilton's next possession Conner Rood '23 found himself double-teamed and passed to a wide open Gilmour for yet another 3-pointer from the top of the key. The Continentals' Nick Osarenren '22 pulled down a defensive board, was fouled and made both free throws for an 88-77 cushion with 32 seconds to go. The Hawks were 3 of 9 from the floor with a turnover in the last five minutes.

Hamilton scored the first five points and bolted out to a 15-7 lead with 12:48 left in the first half. A 10-2 run pulled Hartwick even at 17-17 with 10:28 remaining, but it took the Continentals two minutes to go back up by eight at 29-21. Two free throws by Tirbaso gave Hamilton its first double-digit lead at 45-34 with 2:02 to go, and the Continentals took a 45-38 advantage into the locker room.

After a layup by Bradshaw cut the Hawks' deficit to five at 47-42 early in the second half, Hamilton responded with a 13-3 run. A Gilmour dunk and shots from long range by Gilmour, Mark Lutz '20 and Anderson made it 60-45 as the Continentals took their largest lead of the night four minutes into the second half. Hartwick slowly chipped away at Hamilton's big lead during the next 10 minutes and finally tied the score again at 69-69 on a free throw by Drennan with 5:34 left.

Hamilton has recorded 12 wins in a row against Hartwick as the teams played each other for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

The Continentals aim for their eighth straight win to start the season with another non-conference game at Purchase College (2-4 record) on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
