ONEONTA, NY – Senior Kyle Bradshaw (Tinton Falls, NJ/Manasquan) torched the nets for College-highs of 31 points and seven three-pointers to lead Hartwick past city rival SUNY Oneonta Thursday night at Lambros Arena. Bradshaw netted the Hawks' first 11 points in the first half and he knocked down a big trey with under a minute left to help seal the victory.
Hartwick has now won four straight games for the first time since 2016-17. The Hawks improve to 27-16 against the Red Dragons all-time and they snap a four-game win streak in the series for the visiting team.
Bradshaw had 20 points in the first half, including five three-pointers. He finished the night 11-of-23 from the floor and 7-of-13 from downtown. He also grabbed nine rebounds, which tied for a game-high.
Tommy Kelly (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) added 14 points, five rebounds, and a team-best five assists. Bobby Connors (Rockville Centre, NY/Chaminade) and Pat Garey (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) each contributed 13 points. Connors had a trio of threes and eight boards. Garey had four rebounds and four assists.
Four players reached double figures for the Red Dragons. Kevin Mackin scored 17 with five threes. Harrison Deegan scored 16 points with eight rebounds, and six assists. Andres Rivera tallied 14 points and Ian Schultz scored 11.
After two and a half minutes without a point to start the game, Bradshaw erupted, converting three three-pointers and a jumper, all within a 2:19 span, and the Hawks were out in front 11-5 with 4:55 gone. The visitors grabbed their first lead after a Mackin free throw, 15-14, with 11:13 left on the clock and they increased the margin to seven three and a half minutes later.
The Red Dragon lead crept to eight, 31-23, with just over three minutes to play in the half, but Bradshaw's fifth triple of the stanza followed by an old-fashioned three-point play, narrowed the gap to two, 31-29, at the break.
In the second half, Oneonta quickly built another eight-point lead thanks to an early 8-2 run. A 10-0 spurt for the Hawks, however, with Connors, Garey, Kelly, and Bradshaw all getting buckets, erased the deficit and gave Hartwick a two-point lead, 41-39. After Oneonta pulled back ahead by two, a Connors' three-pointer at the 13:42 mark put the Hawks ahead for good.
'Wick built a nine-point edge, 59-50, on Bradshaw's sixth trey at the 7:43 mark, but the Red Dragons wouldn't go quietly as they got the lead down to two, 59-57, with 6:18 left to play. The Hawks maintained their advantage for the next few minutes before the two teams traded baskets over the next four possessions with under three minutes left on the clock.
A Deegan free throw made the score 71-67 with 80 ticks remaining, but Bradshaw drained another from beyond the three-point arc with 53.6 seconds to play to make it 74-67. Following a Schultz layup, Connors connected from the corner for another 3-ball and the lead was eight with just over half a minute to go. Five points would be as close as Oneonta would get the rest of the way as 'Wick made 5-of-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch for the victory.
Austin Haskell (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) would contribute six points and six rebounds in the contest. He also dished out three assists.
The Hawks finished the game shooting 42.4% (28-for-66) as a group. They shot just under 40% (13-for-33) from three-point range. Oneonta made 28-of-67 shots for 41.8%. The Red Dragons made only 27% (7-for-26) from downtown.

Hartwick next plays on Saturday, November 23 at Vassar College beginning at 2 p.m. as the Hawks look for the fifth straight win.
