Cianciulli's 27 Points Leads Aggies To MAC Freedom Triumph Over King's

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Delaware Valley University 84, King's College 73

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – Mike Cianciulli scored 22 points in the second half to lead Delaware Valley University to an 84-73 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory over visiting King's College.

The Aggies improved to 8-9 overall and 4-2 in league games while the Monarchs fell to 4-13 and 2-4.

The two squads played to eight ties with eight different lead changes in the first half. DelVal owned the largest run of the game with a 7-0 spurt that spanned 1:39 and gave it a 24-18 advantage with 5:30 left in the first. Damian Washington capped the run with one of his two treys in the half.

King's came back to tie the game at 28-28 with 1:46 on the clock, but the Aggies used an 8-2 run to close the half and take a 36-30 lead at the break.

The Monarchs got to within three, 39-36, early in the second before DelVal ripped off a 13-3 run that spanned 2:36. Cianciulli scored 11 of those points and knocked down three treys in the process.

King's got to within six points of the Aggies at the halfway mark of the stanza, but the Aggies never relinquished, and led by as many as 17 points in the second half, on their way to the 84-73 triumph.

Cianciulli finished with a game-high 27 points to go with seven assists and three steals. Washington and Matsinye each scored 14 points and hauled in five rebounds with Matsinye picking up four steals and two blocked shots on the defensive end. Andre' Butler finished with nine points and nine rebounds to go with two steals and Lybrant Robinson added 11 points and five boards.

Andrew Hudak and Noah Tanner led the Monarchs with 14 poitns apiece and J.J. Glinsky pitched in with 10 points. Hudak also recorded team-highs of eight rebounds and five assists.

DelVal will hit the road for a pair of MAC Freedom games this week beginning with Wilkes on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
