Baruch Goes 3-0 in CUNYAC, Defeat John Jay (68-55)

Andre Harris tallied his seventh double-double (20 points, 13 rebounds) of the season and Bryler Paige scored 18 points to help the Baruch College Bearcats record a 68-55 CUNYAC road win at John Jay College on Thursday night.

The host Bloodhounds led throughout a majority of the first half, but the visiting Bearcats stayed within distance trailing by only two at halftime (32-30).

The momentum quickly changed at the start of the second half as the Bearcats scored nine of the first 11 points to push ahead, 39-34.They would never relinquish that lead the rest of the game.

The Bloodhounds did manage twice to cut the deficit to two points, including at 50-48 with under 10 minutes left, but the Bearcats responded each time with timely baskets to stay ahead.

Neither team scored any points from the 5:30 mark to 3:11, but Harris silenced the crowd with a three to push the advantage to 58-51. That proved pivotal as the Bearcats ended the game with a 10-4 run to stay undefeated in the early portion of the CUNYAC schedule.

The host Bloodhounds shot only 30 percent in the second half, while the Bearcats took control winning the battle of the boards (44-36) and getting 23 points from the bench.

In addition to Harris and Paige as top scorers, Joseph Zecchino Jr. contributed eight points and Jack Sixsmith tallied seven assists and grabbed seven rebounds.

Doug Levy was tops for the hosts with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
