THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The hallmark of the Blues was on full display tonight as the No. 4 Whitman College men's basketball team scored 36 points off 32 turnovers in a dominant 104-56 win at Cal Lutheran on Saturday in the final game of the Cal Lutheran Holiday Classic.

Jaron Kirkley delivered his best performance of the season, equaling game-high honors with 17 points off the bench on 6-10 shooting. Joey Hewitt scored 15 points and Trevor Osborne added 12 points including 4-8 from beyond the arc. The team shot an impressive 46% from the floor while committing just a season-low seven turnovers. The Whitman (10-1) bench effort was stellar once again with a combined 68 points.

Austin Cole paced the Kingsman (2-7) with 17 points and seven rebounds and Michael Wadsworth added eight points and a pair of boards.

Whitman established control off the game right off the opening tip, starting the contest with a 14-2 run capped by a Jack Stewart three pointer. The lead continued to swell when an Andrew Vickers steal led to an Osborne triple to put the Blues up 23-4 with 9:40 to play in the first half.

A pair of Michael Wadsworth layups highlighted a quick 6-0 burst by Cal Lu but Whitman kept up the pressure. Austin Butler's block led to his layup on the other end to extend the lead to 23 points with just over three minutes to play until the break. Whitman's defense allowed just one made Cal Lu basketball over the final 7:20 and took a 45-18 lead into halftime.

Any idea of a second half rally by the Kingsman was put to rest early. The Blues allowed just one Cal Lu basket through the first 5:22 of the period while pushing the lead to 57-22. The advantage swelled to as many as 49 points after a Vickers layup just over the midway point of the period.

The Blues return to action next weekend for the stretch run of the Northwest Conference season. Whitman visits Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Jan. 5 for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
