Treys help Tommie men win sixth in row

Junior Tommy Anderson scored a career-best 14 points off the bench and St. Thomas shot 57 percent from the field and had only 12 turnovers in Saturday afternoon's 99-50 men's basketball home victory over Carleton in MIAC play at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (6-1 overall, 3-0 MIAC), who have won six in a row, sank 16-of-33 behind the arc and received at least one made 3-pointer from 11 different players. Eighteen Tommies saw action and 16 scored, with the bench contributing 65 points. St. Thomas posted a 46-21 rebounding advantage.

The Toms fell behind 10-1 early and still trailed 19-18 before a 33-7 run just before halftime took control. 

Henry Benson scored 11 points to lead Carleton (2-5, 1-3).

Tommie freshman guard Anders Nelson had 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds at halftime. He closed with 13 points and eight assists.

St. Thomas plays at Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday, then closes its December schedule next Saturday night at home against No. 6-ranked UW-Stevens Point.
