LANCASTER, Pa. (November 17, 2018) – Senior Jayson Winick netted a season-high 22 points as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team led wire-to-wire and defeated Alvernia University 88-79 Saturday night to close out play at the 2018 William Marshall Tip-Off, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.

Sophomore Alec DiPietrantonio scored 18 and junior Michael Zignorski added 16 for the Ducks, who improved to 2-1. Justin Thomas came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points for the Golden Knights, who fell to 2-2. It was the first-ever meeting between the programs.

Stevens jumped on Alvernia quickly, scoring the first nine points of the game. Winick connected on a long jumper on the Ducks' first possession, followed by a fast-break layup by senior Frank Amari. DiPietrantonio converted a pair of free throws and Winick and Amari hooked up for a three-pointer to extend the lead to nine to force an Alvernia timeout. The Ducks held as much as a 13-point lead before the final nine-point margin of victory.

One night after setting a program record for three throws, Stevens made seven straight free throws before a second-half miss. The Ducks finished 17-for-22 at the line.
