YORK, PA – The seventh ranked York College men's basketball team got back on track as the Spartans got off to a fast start and never looked back in an 81-58 Capital Athletic Conference win over Marymount University on Saturday in York.

The Spartans, who entered the game with a two game losing streak, snapped that streak with a big first half as York recaptured first place in the CAC. Senior Blayde Reich made the day complete as he became the 24th member of the 1,000 career point club with his lay up with 11:34 left in the first half. The game is also the final regular season meeting as conference opponents as the Saints are departing for a new conference in July.

How It Happened

• The Spartans could not have gotten off to a better start coming off the challenging three-game road trip. The Spartans used the first six minutes to forge an 18-6 lead as York put their foot on the gas pedal early.

• Senior Blayde Reich joined the Spartan elite when he hit a short jumper in the lane for his 1,000th career point. The bucket came with 11:34 left in the first half. Reich needed eight points coming into the game and wasted little time in reaching the milestone as those eight points came on just four shots.

• Marymount cut the Spartan lead to eight on a Kiran Durant free throw with 9:31 left in the first half. York answered with seven straight points, pushing the lead to 15 at 31-16 with 7:35 left in the opening half.

• The Spartans scored eight of the final nine points of the half as they took a 47-25 lead to the half. Senior Matt Scamuffo drained a three pointer from the right corner with three seconds left in the half to give York the 22-point halftime lead.

• Marymount got off to a good start in the second half as the Saints began stanza on a 7-1 spurt. However, the Spartans got back on track and pushed the lead back into the 20's. Durant hit a three followed by a lay up to cut York's lead to 57-39 but York responded with an 8-0 run, pushing the lead to 26 with 8:53 left in the game.

• York eventually increased the lead to a game-high 31 (76-45) on a Joey Polczynski lay up with 4:58 left in the game. The Saints, much like the first meeting, outscored the Spartans late to close the scoring gap. This time, Marymount outscored York 13-5 over the final four minutes to provide for the final 23 point Spartan margin of victory.
