ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's basketball team continued its strong play since the holidays, posting a 73-64 victory at Elizabethtown in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals (10-9, 6-2 Landmark) are now 8-1 in their last nine games, including 6-1 in Landmark Conference play. The victory moves them into second place alone in the conference with six games remaining, trailing only Drew (14-5, 7-1), who the Royals beat on Wednesday in the Long Center

Senior guard Ethan Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) led Scranton with 19 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. He was also 8-for-8 from the free throw line and added five rebounds.

Sophomore forward Matthew Mancuso (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) had 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Senior guard Kevin Doolan (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) finished with 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals, and sophomore guard Kyle DeVerna (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds.

Scranton opened up a 37-24 lead at halftime by holding Elizabethtown (4-14, 1-7 Landmark) to just 9-for-28 (32.1 percent) from the floor in the first 20 minutes. The Royals were never able to completely put the game away until late, but led for the duration of the second half.

The Royals finished the afternoon 24-for-52 (46.2 percent) from the field, including 7-for-19 (36.8 percent) from 3-point range. They made 18 of 19 at the line and held a dominant 38-23 edge in rebounding, thanks in large part to 13 boards from senior forward Drew Schankweiler (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg). Scranton also committed 14 turnovers.

Elizabethtown received a game-high 21 points from Bryce Greene and 13 points from Ethan Dubois. The Blue Jays finished the game 23-for-54 (42.6 percent) from the floor, including 7-for-22 (31.8 percent) from long range. They hit 11 of 16 (68.8 percent) from the free throw line and committed just 11 turnovers.

Scranton will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 31, when the Royals host Moravian in a Landmark Conference matchup at 7 p.m. in the Long Center.
