RAMAPO REMAINS UNDEFEATED AT HOME WITH WIN OVER STOCKTON

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team remains undefeated on their home court (7-0) as they defeated the Ospreys of Stockton University, 89-60 today at the Bradley Center in a New Jersey Athletic Conference battle. With the win the Roadrunners improve to 14-4 overall on the year and 10-1 in conference play. The Ospreys fall to 11-7 overall and 5-6 in the NJAC.

Thomas Bonacum was the team's leading scorer as he collected 20 points shooting 6-17 from the floor. He went 8-9 from the charity stripe as the team combined hitting 33-67 (49%) in the win. Nick Stanek netted 13 points, Josh Ford added ten, and Christopher Moseley contributed eight on the day. Bonacum also led in rebounds with nine as Stanek grabbed seven. Patrick Peterson dished out five assists. The Roadrunners caused 14 Stockton turnovers.

The Roadrunner got 13 points off turnovers and 33 points from reserve as they led the entire game minus a brief minute at the start. Stanek would open the game with a three for Ramapo and Steve Ferebee would tie it up as he matched Stanek, before a jumper from Zavon Johnson would put the Ospreys ahead, 5-3. The lead was short lived as Bonacum would tie the game at five and Peterson would put the Roadrunners ahead, 7-5 with 15:41 to play. Ramapo would stay on top working to a double-digit advantage (28-18) with another long shot from Stanek with 6:40 on the clock. Ramapo jumped ahead by their biggest lead of 17, 41-24, with a jumper from Ford. Stockton ended the half with a basket heading into the locker room trailing Ramapo, 26-41. Bonacum led Ramapo with ten first half points as the team shot a combined 17-31 (55%). Ferebee led the Ospreys with six points as his team hit 10-27 (37%).

The second half went much of the same as Ramapo led the entire way. The Ospreys would come within eight, 39-47, with a three-point goal from Ferebee, but it wasn't enough as Ramapo worked to a 30-point lead on two occasions. Raghav Sehgal hit a jump shot to put Ramapo on top 87-57 at 1:31, and Travis Bennett nailed down a two-point goal with just over one minute to play to lead, 89-59. The buzzer sounded with Ramapo ahead, 89-60. Bonacum collected an additional ten points in the half and Ramapo shot 16-36 (44%), while Stockton hit 9-27 (33%) with Johnson leading all scorers with 17 second half points.

The Ospreys were led by Johnson as he put away a team leading 21 points. Ferebee netted 12 and led the team with nine boards. The team combined hitting 19-54 (35%) from the field and Johnson dished out three assists. Stockton caused ten Ramapo turnovers and made just seven of their 30 three-point attempts.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 24th when they travel to Montclair State for an 8pm tip.
