CHESTER, Pa. - Hood College reserve guard Jordan Hall scored a career- and team-high 13 points to lead the Blazers to a 77-75 win at Widener in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action. 

Inside the Box Score 

• Hall, who had only appeared in three games with six career points before Saturday, hit 5 of 7 field goals in the victory.
• His 3 for 5 effort on 3-point field goals fueled a perimeter attack that knocked down 13 of 23 (57 percent). Jared Ruiz (11 points) and Evan Wang (10) each went 3 for 4 behind the arc. It marked the second time in two weeks that Hood connected on 13 3-pointers after hitting as many in a win over St. Vincent on December 30. 
• Hall was not the only reserve with a big day for the Blazers, whose bench outscored the Pride's 47-8. Also in double figures in scoring for Hood were Daniel Wegener with 12 points and Christian Evans with 10. It was a career-high for the freshman Evans. 
• Luke Casey had seven rebounds, Wang recorded five assists and Ruiz tallied three steals. 

How it Happened

• Widener had a chance to tie the game down the stretch. With just one second remaining and the Pride inbounding the ball under their own basket, Ryan McMahon passed the ball off a Hood defender and appeared to have a wide open look. The shot spun around the rim and bounced out, preserving the win for the Blazers. 
• Hood trailed by as many as 10 in the first half but cut the deficit to 42-39 on a 3-pointer by Mason Wang with 23 seconds left. A layup by Tyler Drews in the closing seconds forced the Blazers to settle for a five-point differential at halftime. 
• Hood quickly closed the gap in a hard-fought second half that featured 15 lead changes and five ties. Evans gave the Blazers their first lead of the period on a layup that made it 47-46 with 16:12 to play. 
• A layup by Elijah Boyd with 2:27 left gave the Pride a 72-71 lead before Hall answered with a 3-pointer from the wing to give the Blazers ahead for good. The sophomore's shot made it 74-72 with 2:02 remaining and a pair of free throws by Evans made it a four-point advantage with less than a minute to go. 

Notes

• Drews scored a game-high 26 for Widener on 11 of 18 shooting. While he was 4 for 8 from 3-point range and Sam Smith went 4 for 7, the Pride hit just 9 of 28 as a team (32 percent). 
• Widener also struggled at the foul line in the contest, finishing 6 of 13 (46 percent). 
• Sardayah Sambo had 19 points and four blocks. Smith scored 12 and Boyd added 10.
