- The Lead: Overcoming a 15-point halftime deficit, the No. 15 ranked MIT men's basketball team ran its winning streak to nine straight with a thrilling 74-65 comeback home win over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday at Rockwell Cage.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first half, the Bears came out firing and led 9-0 just 3:03 into the game following a layup from Micah Baldez. Freshman Hamilton Forsythe (Weston, Conn.) got the Engineers on the board with a three with 16:15 on the clock as MIT eventually took a 15-14 lead after two free throws by junior Bradley Jomard (Paris, France).

- Coast Guard answered though with a 17-4 run over seven minutes, capped by a three by Luke Daniels for the 31-19 advantage. The Bears closed the half strong to lead 37-22 at the break, including a Noah Baldez layup at the buzzer.

- In the second half, the visitors continued to lead by 11 with 12:37 remaining before the MIT offense roared to life. Forsythe knocked down a three to cut the lead to eight and jump start a 9-0 run that cut the advantage down to two at 47-45 midway through the period. Back-to-back threes from junior Cameron Korb (Los Gatos, Calif.) put the Engineers in front at 57-52 with 6:29 left and the hosts led by at least three the rest of the way. 

- MIT stretched the lead to double digits at 72-62 with one minute left on a layup from junior Tim Roberts (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) before coming away with the eventual nine-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- After shooting just 15.4 percent from three in the first half, MIT shot a blistering 64.3 percent from three in the second as the Engineers hit 9-of-14 attempts. MIT also held a slight 36-32 rebounding advantage and registered seven blocks and 11 forced turnovers. 

- Korb led the Engineers with 21 points in 34 minutes off the bench, while AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) and Jomard each added 17 points. Jomard also had a game-high seven assists, while Forsythe was also in double figures with 13 points.

- Micah Baldez was the top scorer for Coast Guard with 20 points, while Noah Baldez had 15 points and Justin Kane chipped in 10. The Bears finished the game shooting 63.6 percent from three and 45.3 percent from the field.

- The No. 15 ranking is the highest for the Engineers since week 3 of the 2014-2015 season. MIT climbed to as high as No. 11 earlier in that season.

- MIT's current nine-game winning streak is the longest for the Engineers since a 13-game winning streak in the 2011-12 season.
