Hope Men's Basketball Overpowers St. Vincent At RDV Sportsplex Classic

A second-half eruption powered the Hope College men's basketball team to a 91-74 victory against St. Vincent, Pennsylvania at the RDV Sportsplex Classic on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida.

The Flying Dutchmen evened their record at 4-4 overall behind a 55-point second half against a six-win opponent.

It was most points Hope had scored in a half this season and the Flying Dutchmen's second-highest scoring game.

Junior guard Jason Beckman of Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) topped Hope with 21 points. He also recorded five of the Flying Dutchmen's season-high 23 assists.

Senior guard Dante Hawkins of Holland, Michigan (Holland) chipped in 19 points and a team-high six assists.

Five Hope players scored in double figures.

Three Flying Dutchmen netted 12 points apiece, including forward Dennis Towns of Flint, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic), pictured. The junior also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and recorded a team-high six assists.

Junior forward Teddy Ray of Fort Wayne, Michigan (Homestead) and freshman forward Preston Granger of Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Christian) also collected 12 points.

Hope improved to 8-1 overall at the RDV Sportsplex Classic.

The Flying Dutchmen will face Baldwin Wallace, Ohio on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
