Mahwah, NJ:  The #7 Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated Rutgers-Newark University 60-47 in NJAC conference action tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners remain undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record while they improve to 6-1 overall. The Scarlet Raiders fall to 2-6 overall, 0-4 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners began to pull away with 10:12 on the clock in the first half when Josh Ford sparked a 7-0 run with a jumper before Jordan Zagadou capped off the run and made the second of a two-shot foul as Ramapo led 17-9 with 7:26 left in the half. Quincy Rutherford tipped in a basket for Rutgers-Newark before Thomas Bonacum hit a jumper and a free throw to take a 20-11 lead with 4:15 on the clock. Rob McWilliams then scored back-to-back baskets for Ramapo to take a 24-11 lead. His two baskets started an 11-2 run to close the first half. Connor Romano hit a three-pointer and jumper to cap off the run as Ramapo went into the locker room up 31-13.
 
In the second half, Ramapo took their biggest lead of the game 34-13 when Nick Stanek converted on two free throws. A mini 5-0 run from Rutgers-Newark cut the lead to 15 before Ramapo stretched the lead back to 20 with a three-pointer from James Long and a pair of free throws from Christopher Moseley with under 15 minutes to play. Ramapo saw their biggest lead 45-23 with 12:31 on the clock before the Scarlet Raiders went on a 17-4 run capped off with a three-pointer from Chase Barneys to shrink the lead to nine 49-40 with 7:28 left to play. Patrick Peterson nailed a three-pointer for Ramapo off a dish from Long to regain a double-digit lead 52-40 before Tyler Ofray and Barneys hit back-to-back shots for Rutgers-Newark 52-45 with 4:46 left in the game. Ramapo would outscore the Scarlet Raiders 8-2 down the stretch to hold onto the 60-47 NJAC win.
 
The Roadrunners used a balanced offensive attack in the win while they out rebounded the Scarlet Raiders 45-32 and the Rampao defense forced 13 turnovers. Moseley led the team with 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Bonacum added eight points, nine rebounds and five assists while McWilliams added eight points in 14 minutes of action. Ford contributed with seven points, four rebounds and Long tallied six points and two rebounds. The team shot 35% (19-53) from the field, 28% (4-14) from the three-point line and 72% (18-25) from the free throw line.
 
The Scarlet Raiders shot 32% (18-56) from the field, 33% (6-18) from the three-point line and 71% (5-7) from the free throw line. Barneys led the team with 21 points, including three three-pointers while Mark Thomas and Ofray each added eight points.
 
The #7 Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, December 9th when they travel to NJAC rival Kean University for a game at 1pm.
