Keuka College Tops Wells College 74-70

AURORA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball earned a 74-70 road North Eastern Athletic Conference victory on Thursday at Wells College.

Keuka College (4-5, 2-1 NEAC) was led by junior Ryder Mansfield (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte United). Mansfield set new career-highs with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Wolves. Also recording the double-double for Keuka College was Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Keuka College got out to an early lead over the Express with Ryder Mansfield making his first two baskets of the game. Wells College responded with an 11-2 run to take a 13-8 lead over the Wolves. Keuka College broke off an 11-2 run of their own to regain the lead halfway through the first. The Wolves will continue to grow their lead, attacking the basket and drawing fouls on Wells, resulting in three-point plays. Keuka College scored 12 of the last 16 points in the half, capped by David Oliveras (Great Mills, Md. / Great Mills) finding Ryder Mansfield for the layup at the buzzer as Keuka College led 40-26 at the half.

Wells College cut the Keuka College lead down to six in the opening minutes, but the Wolves quickly reestablished their lead. A 10-0 run by the Green and Gold pushed the lead back out to 16 at 54-38 with 11 minutes left in the game. The Express fought to get back in the game behind their three-point shooting. Wells College made eight threes in the half, cutting into the Wolves advantage. Keuka College's lead shrunk down to one point with 24 seconds left to play. Dylan Doupe (Phoenix, N.Y. / John C. Bridlebough) and David Oliveras each went 2-2 from the line in the closing seconds to help Keuka College secure the 74-70 conference victory.

Keuka College and SUNY Cobleskill has split their two-game season series in each of the last four seasons. The last series sweep was when Keuka College took both meetings in the 2012-13 season.
