ONEONTA, NY – Senior forward Jake Sinicki (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) reached the 1,000-point mark for his career but visiting Oneonta used a 10-0 run in the late stages to pull away for a 90-79 victory Tuesday night at Lambros Arena.

The loss drops the Hawks' overall record to 1-3. The Red Dragons improve to 3-1 with the victory.

Sinicki entered the game with 999 career points and he hit 1,000 1:27 into the game on a three-pointer. In doing so, he became the 32nd player in Hartwick history to achieve the feat.

The opening half was back and forth with eight lead changes and four tie scores. Sinicki would lead the way for Hartwick with 11 points and six rebounds in the half. Kevin Townes (Lagrangeville, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) added eight points with Brandon LaForest (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) chipping in with seven points and four assists. A LaForest bucket with 1:02 remaining handed the Hawks a 38-37 edge at halftime.

Oneonta gained the upper hand 2:11 into the second half on a pair of free throws but the Hawks kept the margin within five points or less over the next six minutes, tying the scoring on three occasions. A three-pointer from the visitors at the 10:14 mark, which made the score 61-58, put them up for good.

The Hawks would trim the gap to one point four more times. After a three-pointer from Corey Baker (Granby, MA/Granby) at 6:37 made it 71-69, the Hawks would go scoreless over the next 3:36 of action. The Red Dragons would get the next 10 points to take their biggest lead of the night, 81-69, with 3:15 left on the clock.

Hartwick managed to narrow the margin to six points, 85-79, with 49 ticks to go, but the Red Dragons converted 5-of-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the victory.

Townes closed the game with team-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds. LaForest finished with 14 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Baker also scored 14 points and he contributed six boards. Sinicki finished with 11 points. Tommy Kelly (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) had seven points for the Hawks. Patrick Garey (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) added six points on a pair of three-pointers.
