ORANGE — Andrew Johnson posted one last double-double and Jay Miller scored all 10 of his points in the second half as the Occidental men's basketball team finished the season with a 60-49 win at Chapman on Tuesday.

 The Tigers sweep their season series with the defending SCIAC Champions and finish the season tied for fifth place in the conference standings.

Johnson and Miller, both seniors, cap outstanding four-year careers for Oxy. 

Johnson finishes the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds, solidifying his spot as the SCIAC's leading scorer at 19.7 ppg. He also shot 8 for 16 from the field for 50 percent, his fied goal percentage on the year.

One game earlier, Johnson surpassed the great Finn Rebasso '03 for second all-time on Oxy's career scoring list. The 6-foot-6 forward from Loyola finishes his career with 1,569 points. He played in 99 of 100 games in his career, starting 97.

Miller, a First Team All-SCIAC selection and the SCIAC's leading scorer last season, started out cold, but came on strong with key baskets and free throws in the second half.

Joe Compagno, also a senior playing in his last game, made a key contribution off the bench, scoring seven points, with three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Austin DeWitz, Oxy's leader in minutes played this season primarily due to his playmaking ability, rebounding and defense, scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists. Ryan Kaneshiro had five assists and Zach Baines chipped in 12 points and five rebounds. 

James Taylor and Josh Cohan led the Panthers with 10 points each.

Oxy guarded Chapman's key outside shooters well, limiting Reed Nakakihara to 1 for 6 and Tyler Green to 1 for 10. As a team the Panthers went 2 for 21 from the three-point line.

It's the second time this season that Oxy limited its opponents to less than 50 points with outstanding defense.

Turnovers were a key, as the Tigers forced Chapman to cough up the ball 19 times. 

The Tigers finish the season 14-11 overall and 6-10 in conference.
