Men’s Basketball Set Program Record for Wins with 23

SCRANTON, Pa. – The No. 20 Neumann University men's basketball team wrapped up the 2016-17 regular season with an 86-66 win at Marywood University on Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup.

 

The win is the teams 23rd of the season, setting a program record. Five Knights scored in double-figures in the win. DeShawn Lowman had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. DeAndre Williams also netted 16 points, including four three-pointers. Carl Wallace tallied 14 points. Darian Barnes and Tony Parker each added 10 points.

 

Early into the contest, the Knights took a 10-8 score and went on a 12-1 run for a 22-9 lead. Neumann continued to keep the pressure on and built a 35-14 lead with six minutes left before halftime. The Knights held a 45-25 lead at the break.

 

Over the first five minutes of the second half, the Pacers chipped their way back to and 11 point game, 51-40. The Knights scored the next five points and kept the foot on the petal for the rest of the game, coming away with the 86-66 win.

 

Neumann (23-2, 17-1 CSAC) will be the No. 1 seed in the CSAC playoffs. The Knights receive a bye in the first round and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday. Time and opponent are to-be-determined.
