BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team erased a 16-point first-half deficit to upend Buffalo State 69-68 on Saturday afternoon in the Sports Arena. With the bounce-back victory after a loss on Friday, the Lakers are now 18-5 overall and 14-2 in the SUNYAC while the Bengals drop to 15-8, 9-8.

Oswego fell behind Buffalo State by 16 points a little more than halfway through the opening stanza but was able to cut that margin to just seven, 33-26, at the break. The Bengals extended their lead to nine with less than 15 minutes to go in regulation when Oswego went on a run. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Jamir Ferebee and Keith Tyson followed by a Ferebee layup pulled the Lakers to within a point. The two squads traded blows the rest of the way with Buffalo State holding a 66-65 edge with 3:33 to play. A good layup by Brian Sortino, followed by a Tyler Pierre steal and an Ian Schupp jumper gave Oswego all it would need to complete the comeback win.

After a poor shooting performance in the first half, the Lakers started to click in the second, posting percentages of 55.6 from the floor and 45.5 from beyond the arc.
Ferebee – a junior – made an important difference in the latter part of the game, recording 13 of his 15 points in the second half to tie for the team-high. Also registering 15 points in the game was Sortino, pairing that with a game-high six assists. The senior was also balanced on both ends of the floor, collecting five defensive rebounds and blocking two shots. Ferebee filled the stat sheet as well, grabbing five boards and dishing out four assists.

Aiding in the offensive effort were Pierre and Tyson, each tallying 14 points apiece. Pierre's total is a new career-high, as was his 32 minutes of court time. Tyson paced the team on the boards, gathering eight rebounds. Pierre was just one carom back of Tyson's game-high eight boards. The sophomore also had a team-high two steals.

Oswego's final weekend of the regular season will be up next, beginning with a league matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Friday against Geneseo.
