Buena Vista senior forward Kennedy Drey was recognized on Monday for his play last week by being named the Iowa Conference Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.

Drey averaged 19.5ppg and 11.5rpg for the Beavers who picked up two more wins to remain atop the Iowa Conference standings.  He got his week going with his 10th double-double of the year, scoring 18 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, and drilling a three-point bucket with 0.6 seconds left which gave BVU a thrilling 62-61 road victory at Coe College after trailing by 14 with 5:00 to go.

He followed that up with 21 points and seven boards during the team's 75-55 home victory on Saturday afternoon over Luther College.  In that contest he matched a career-high with seven made free-throws.

It's the third time Drey has earned such recognition in his career, and he is the first Beaver to land the honors this season.  He moved atop the league rankings during IIAC play in scoring (20.0ppg) and is second in rebounding at over 11.0rpg.  He's one of only two players in the league averaging a double-double during conference play.

Buena Vista (11-6, 7-1 IIAC) plays host to Simpson College tonight (January 23) in a make-up contest from one week ago.
