A lay-up by Andrew Vickers of visiting Lewis & Clark was just enough to lead the visiting Pioneers to a 59-57 win over Pacific University on Friday night in Forest Grove.

The Boxers (8-6, 2-4 NWC) had a pair of chances that hit all parts of the rim but not through the net in the final 22 seconds.

The Pioneers (6-8, 3-2 NWC) overcame a five-point halftime deficit in the win. Vickers, who had not scored in the second half, made the decisive shot after the sixth tie in the contest. In the series between the two teams, the last four matchups have been decided by 14 points.

Olowo, who tied the game at 57, made a pair of free throws with 41 seconds to go to reach the 20-point plateau for the second time in his career. 14 of the 20 points for Olowo came in the first half; plus, K.C. Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev.) added 12 points to join Olowo in double figures.

The Pioneers overcame 11.8% (2-for-17) shooting from the 3-point line to shoot 47.1% (24-for-51) from the field and made 69.2% (9 of 13) from the free-throw line in the win.  Cannen Robinson led Lewis & Clark with 16 points, plus Nico Bricker and Jonathan Boddie scored 14 and 10 points, respectively. Boddie grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for a double double in the win.

Facing a seven-point deficit midway through the first half, the Boxers regained the lead with a 14-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 25-20 lead with 3:32 left in the first 20 minutes. Pacific held a five-point lead, 30-25, at the halftime break. The Boxers entered the game with a 5-1 mark when leading at the half.

Eight-straight points by the visitors after the halftime break put Lewis & Clark ahead 33-30 with 17:45 left in the contest. Neither team was able to sustain a lead in the second 20 minutes as the lead changed hands on five occasions.

Facing a four-point deficit, 57-53, a lay-up by Harrison and a pair of free throws by Olowo tied the game at 57 with 41 seconds to play. Next, the Pioneers got what proved to be the game-winning shot from Vickers. After a Pioneers' timeout, the Boxers missed on a pair of opportunities to end the contest. 

Pacific next will be idle until Jan. 20 when they travel to face Puget Sound at 8 p.m.
