Rams Remain Perfect in Skyline Behind 26 Points From Kinard

Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a Skyline men's basketball game this afternoon, Farmingdale State played host to Sage and earned a 78-69 victory. FSC junior guard Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) led all scorers with 26 points as the Rams improved to 5-0 in the conference.

Trailing 40-33 with 17:23 remaining, Farmingdale State (9-5) used a 15-0 run over the next 2:41 to take an eight-point advantage, 48-40.

With 12:15 left to play and the Gators (7-7, 3-2) down eight, junior guard Jordan Devaughn (Jacksonville, Fla.) connected on a 3 and Frane Larose (Miami, Fla.) hit 1-of-2 at the line on Sage's next possession to cut the deficit to 50-46.

After a Kinard 3 gave FSC a 61-51 lead with less than seven minutes remaining, the Gators responded with eight straight points to close within two. The Rams quickly answered with four unanswered points, including a 3-pointer by Kinard, to extend the advantage to 65-59 with 3:35 left on the clock.

Sage used a pair of free-throws from Jordan to cut the FSC lead to 65-61 but the Rams answered with a 10-0 run capped off by a Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) 3-pointer to clinch the victory.

Kinard scored his game-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc, while adding five steals and five rebounds. Sophomore forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) tallied 12 points (6-for-11) and seven boards and sophomore guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 11 points in the win.

The Gators were led by senior guard Marcus Patterson's (Bronx, N.Y.) 25 points and a double-double of 10 points and 17 boards to go along with seven blocks from junior center Thiago Conceicao (El Portal, Fla.).

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Mary for a conference matchup on Tuesday, January 17th at 8:00 p.m.
