SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2017)  Behind a strong defensive effort, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix topped the Sewanee men's basketball team 67-57, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

Overall, the Warriors limited Sewanee to a 39.3 field goal percentage. That included a 29.4 effort from beyond the three-point line. Hendrix also forced 18 turnovers, which led to 27 points.

Despite the overall outcome, Sewanee came out of the gate fast. A layup by Brody Stone sparked a 9-1 run by the Tigers over the first five and a half minutes.

Hendrix answered back and eventually led by eight, 20-12, after a pair of free throws from SAA leading scorer Hank Aldous. From there, Sewanee answered by eventually pulling back ahead by one, 28-27, early in the second half.

However, Hendrix used a 17-6 run to take command. Sewanee did have a late chance after forcing Hendrix to the free line the final three minutes. However, down 58-53 with 1:53 left, Sewanee could not complete the comeback.

Individually, Stone led Sewanee with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Williams added 15 points while Leo Born finished with 11.

Aldous led Hendrix with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Rhodes.
