Baruch Powers Past Lehman (65-63) for Win #10

Four different players scored in double-figures as the Bearcats bounced back at home with a 65-63 win over the Lightning of Lehman College in CUNYAC action on Friday night.

Chimaechi Ekekeugborconnected on a big three with 18 seconds left for a 65-59 advantage that proved pivotal to putting away the visiting Lighting in the final seconds.

Ekekeugbor narrowly missed his fourth straight double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.


William Sixsmith(4-6 3fg) also tallied 14 points, while Bryler Paigeand George Smyth, Jr.finished with 11 points each.

Allen Villartallied six points and seven rebounds off the bench. Jack Sixsmithwas crucial all evening directing the offense with six points, five rebounds, four assists and three key steals.  

The Bearcats started strong shooting 54 percent (15-for-28) in the first half, but struggled in the second half at only 27 percent (8-for-30). They overcame their struggles down the stretch with timely shots and key steals.

Damian Bellamy kept the Lightning in the game with 20 points (9-12 fg) off the bench.

The Bearcats will head uptown on Monday night, January 9, for an 8:00 p.m. CUNYAC contest at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
