No. 15 Hope Men's Basketball Falls In Overtime To Williams At Mount Union Tourney

The Hope College and Williams, Massachusetts men's basketball teams battled for 45 minutes before the Flying Dutchmen fell 91-85 in overtime on Thursday at the Mount Union M-Club Classic Thursday in Alliance, Ohio.

No. 15-ranked Hope (7-3 overall) will look to rebound on Friday, Dec. 30 in the 1 p.m. consolation game against Wilkes, Pennsylvania (5-5).

Williams (9-1) faces Mount Union, Ohio (8-2) in the 3 p.m. championship game. Mount Union beat Wilkes 74-70 in Thursday's second game.

The matchup against Wilkes is the first for Hope since the 1998 national semifinal that the Flying Dutchmen won.

Senior forward Harrison Blackledge of Canton, Ohio (Hoover HS) scored 21 points to lead the Flying Dutchmen, despite being limited to 23 minutes because of foul trouble. He fouled out with 4 ½ minutes remaining in the second half.

Senior guard Chad Carlson of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) chipped in a career-high 20 points. He overcame missing his first five field-goal attempts to sink a career-high six 3-pointers.

Junior guard Dante Hawkins of Holland, Michigan (Holland) added 16 points and a team-high five assists.

The Flying Dutchmen were outscored 21-15 in overtime. Williams made all 10 of its free-throw attempts during the extra five-minute period.

The Ephs outscored Hope 26-5 at the foul line for the entire game.
