Ravens Place Five in Double-Figures as Rosemont Defeats Keystone

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Ravens bounced back from a hotly contested battle on Wednesday to face yet another tough battle, this time on their home floor. Today the Ravens claimed the win as they defeated the visiting Giants from Keystone College by a final score of 89-78. With the result the Ravens improved to 3-3 overall (2-1 CSAC) and the Giants fell to 2-4 overall (0-3 CSAC).
 
The Giants put pressure on the Ravens early when Mark Gilliam dropped a three on the board and then made it 4-0 with a free throw. Rosemont would recover quickly with a five-point run to take the 5-4 lead less than three minutes in. It would be the first of nine lead changes in the game that also featured six ties. Most of the back-and-forth between the two teams happened in the first period.
 
Trailing 30-29, the Ravens put together a seven-point run to grab a 36-30 lead after Alex Epps-Ortizscored on a layup from Kyle Lafferty with 3:32 left in the half. With Rosemont ahead by three, they assembled another run, this time a five-pointer, accentuated by a Clayton Wolfe jumper, to end the scoring in the half with the Ravens ahead by eight, 43-35.
 
The Ravens extended their lead early on in the second half on consecutive layups from Clayton WolfeKyle Lafferty, and Khai Roberts to give the Ravens a 14-point lead, 55-41 with 15:18 on the clock. A trey from Roberts, followed by a Jamier Hughes jumper and another Khai Roberts three-ball would give the Ravens their largest lead of the contest, 18 points, to take a 65-47 lead with 13:18 left in the contest.
 
The Giants made a stand over the next 2 ½ minutes, putting together a seven-point run to narrow the Ravens' led to 11 points, 65-54 with 10:49 left. Rosemont was able to fend off further attempts by Keystone to get closer than eight points the rest of the way, as the Ravens claimed their second straight home victory of the season.
 
Jamier Hughes scored 20 points to lead Rosemont, and with nine rebounds he just missed a double-double. Khai Roberts shot 3-for-8 from beyond the arc to help him tally 16 points. Clayton Wolfe also chipped in with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Kyle Lafferty hit for 12 points and Alex Epps-Ortiz scored 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting to go with six rebounds. Wolfe added 10 assists to claim his first double-double of the young season.
 
The Giants were led by Mark Gilliam (17 points) and John Kirkpatrick (16 points, 10 rebounds).
 
The Ravens recovered their long-distance eye today, hitting on 41% of their attempts, and scoring 27 of their points from downtown.

The Ravens next take to the court on Wednesday, when they will travel to Hackettstown, NJ against the Centenary Cyclones at 7:00pm in a CSAC contest.
