BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Bowdoin College scored the last eight points of the contest to defeat the University of New England, 60-52, in men's basketball action Tuesday evening (Nov. 22) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

After Daron Hoges, Jr. brought the Nor'easters (1-3) into a tie with a three-pointer at the 1:05 mark, David Reynolds gave the Polar Bears (2-1) the final lead with a short jumper off the glass. UNE could not convert on any of its next three possessions, meanwhile Jack Simonds and Reynolds sank all six freebies in the waning moments to seal the result.

Simonds tallied 15 of his game-high 19 points following halftime, and added seven rebounds and five assists. Liam Farley notched all of his 13 points before the break, and corralled 10 boards. Reynolds ended with 11 points to go with six rebounds, and Hugh O'Neil grabbed 16 caroms to lead Bowdoin to a 52-32 advantage in the category. Tim Ahn had seven points and six assists for the visitors, who shot 34 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times.

For the hosts, Jean-Luc Parker scored 17, and Drew Coveney went for eight points, five rebounds, and three steals. UNE connected on just 30 percent of its shots on the night.

The Polar Bears built a cushion as high as 16 (28-12) during the opening period, but settled for a 34-26 lead at intermission. The spread was 10 (39-29) when the Nor'easters rattled off a 13-1 run to move ahead with under 10 minutes to play. Coveney had six straight early in the spurt.

Simonds soon posted eight in-a-row to help Bowdoin take a 50-46 lead, only to see Parker bring UNE back with a triple. Reynolds then got a bucket to make it 52-49 heading into the closing stretch.
