BSC Men Win Home Opener 80-69 over Rose-Hulman

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team opened its home season with an 80-69 win over Rose-Hulman Saturday night in Bill Battle Coliseum.  The Panthers led the length of the contest to move to 1-1 overall.  Rose-Hulman dropped to 0-1 with the loss.

 

BSC led 42-30 at the break, shooting 57 percent from the floor. They finished shooting 57 percent as a team for the game.

 

Evan Lewis (Birmingham, Ala./Ramsay HS) earned a game-high 20 points.  He made 7-of-8 from the floor, 5-of-6 from beyond the arch.

 

Three others finished with double-digit points. 

 

James McLean (Maitland, Fla./Winter Park HS) and Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) had 15 and 14 points, respectively.  Deneka also led with a game-high seven rebounds.

 

Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y.) picked up 12 points of his own.

 

The Panthers continue play in the Black Tie Classic tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 20 against Wabash College.  The Little Giants defeated Rust College in day one of the Classic.
