Mike Simmons scored 14 points, and Geoff FuQuay hit a pair of free throws with 3 seconds left to lead the Bearcats to a 63-62 win over Thomas More College on the road to complete the regular season.

Playing without its top four scorers after locking up the #1 seed for the conference tournament, SVC got a quick start from Ben Klimchock.  The senior scored all five points as the Bearcats took a 5-4 early lead.

Saint Vincent soon found itself down a fifth player, when Austin Dedert picked up his third foul less than four minutes into play and was forced to sit for the remainder of the first half.

The hosts came back to take an 11-7 lead at the 11:50 mark of the first half, before Matt D'Amico hit a baseline jumper to make it a two-point game.  A jumper by Klimchock later cut the gap to just one, 12-11, but the Saints then went on a 5-0 run to make it a six-point game.  However, SVC fought back and scored the game's next six points, capped by a three from FuQuay, tying the game.

The runs continued, as the Saints then scored five straight points, followed by 8 in a row from the Bearcats.  Austin Ford started the run with a layup, then FuQuay added a baseline jumper.  After a pair of Ford free throws, Malique McLaren stole a pass and wen the length of the court for a dunk to make it a 25-22 Bearcat lead.

The Saints briefly regained the lead (28-27) at the 2:20 mark, but Klimchock hit a three to put SVC in front to stay for the rest of the half, ultimately taking a 31-29 advantage into the break.

Klimchock scored 10 in the first half, while FuQuay added 7.

D'Amico scored on the opening possession of the second half, and Ford later increased the lead to five, 38-33, with a layup at the 15:24 mark.

Simmons maintained the lead with four points of his own to make the score 42-37 with 12:30 on the clock.

However, the Saints eventually tied the game 46-46 at the 9:28 mark. Ford then hit a turnaround jumper with 9:05 remaining, followed by a Simmons three to once again put SVC in front by five.  After a score by the Saints, Simmons hit another three to make it 54-49 near the six-minute mark.

Once again the Saints cut the gap to one, 54-53, but a free throw from Dedert and another three from Simmons made it a five-point game with 2:58 remaining.

A drive to the hoop by TMC's Damian King just over a minute later made the score 59-57, and King scored again on a jumper with 1:10 on the clock to tie the game at 59-59.

Sinwell hit a clutch jumper to put the Bearcats back in front, 61-59 with 47 seconds left, then he came up with a steal on the next possession, but SVC was unable to capitalize on a free throw opportunity.

Thomas More then tied the game with 10.5 seconds left on a score by Simon Clifford, who drew a foul on the play.  He hit the free throw to put the hosts in front by one.

FuQuay then drove the length of the court and drew a foul, stepping to the line for two shots.  He hit the first shot to tie the game with 3.4 ticks left, and after a Thomas More time out, he hit the second shot to put the Bearcats back in front.

The Saints had one chance left, but were unable to score, and the Bearcats held on for the victory.

Simmons led the team with 14 points, while Klimchock added 13.  FuQuay (11), D'Amico (10) and Ford (10) also scored in double figures for SVC. Ford had six rebounds.

SVC finishes the regular season with an overall record of 19-6, 15-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.  The Bearcats will host the #8 seed on Tuesday night in the Carey Center at 7PM.
