More news about: Lancaster Bible

All that stands between the Lancaster Bible men's basketball team and a perfect regular season is one game. On the heels of their 91-64 victory on Saturday at Wilson, the Chargers will go for 25-0 on Monday night when they host Penn College at 6 p.m. Saturday's win improves the Chargers to 24-0 overall and 17-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play and Lancaster Bible is just one of two undefeated men's basketball teams in the country over all divisions.

How it Happened: Like they did Thursday night at Gallaudet, the Chargers didn't start fast, but held their opponent in check as well as Lancaster Bible led just 12-11 6:13 into the contest. Lancaster Bible took a 19-14 lead after back-to-back free throws from Kurt Keltner, but Wilson answered right back and tied the game at 21-21 with 9:28 to play in the opening half.

The teams traded baskets for several minutes and Jemel Kaba's 3-pointer with 5:53 left gave the Phoenix a 29-28 lead. It would be Wilson's last lead as Lancaster Bible used a 17-4 run over the next 5:20 to take the game over. Junior Bryce Williams had eight points during the scoring run, while senior Jon Bird had five of the points. Lancaster Bible would eventually lead 45-38 at halftime, the 22nd time this season the Chargers have led at halftime.

Lancaster Bible could not pull away from Wilson early in the second half as the host Phoenix did everything they could to stay in the game. Marqwon Wynn's jumper with 11:59 to play cut Wilson's deficit to five at 59-54, but the Chargers finally got on one of their big scoring runs and ended any hope of an upset with a 19-4 run over the next 6:01. Seven different players scored for Lancaster Bible during the scoring run as the Chargers led 76-56 with just under six minutes to play.

The Chargers held the Phoenix to just two points over the final 4:17 and thanks to a late Javon Cole 3-pointer, Lancaster Bible won, 91-64 for its 13th victory away from Horst Athletic Center this season.
