William Paterson Men’s Basketball Posts Wire-to-Wire 88-74 Victory

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (11-12, 6-10 NJAC) never trailed, posting an 88-74 victory against visiting Kean (4-18, 4-12 NJAC) Feb. 10.

 

The win left the Pioneers tied for seventh place in the league standings with two regular-season games remaining. The top six teams qualify for the NJAC Tournament that begins Feb. 20.

 

Senior guard Bright Mensah (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) was 7-for-14 (.500) for 26 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Richy Espinal (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) collected 15 tallies and seven boards, while senior guard Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

 

WP owned a 45-35 halftime lead behind a 20-2 edge in points off turnovers, and led by as many 19 (85-66, 1:29) during the second period.  The Pioneers scored 31 points off 19 Cougar turnovers and finished with a 21-11 edge in bench points.

 

Freshman guard Justin Watson paced Kean with 18 points, and sophomore guard Jerry Crismond had 13 tallies and nine rebounds.

 

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Day Saturday, Feb. 13, when the Pioneers host The College of New Jersey at 3:00 p.m.
